Trump keeps Whatley at Republican National Committee following 'OUTSTANDING and HISTORIC JOB'
Whatley vows the 'RNC’s priorities will remain the same: get out the vote, protect the ballot, and raise the money we need'

President-elect Donald Trump has reappointed Michael Whatley to continue leading the Republican National Committee (RNC), a decision Whatley enthusiastically accepted, stating he is "honored to continue serving as Chairman of the RNC and work tirelessly to help President Trump Make America Great Again!"
Trump commended Whatley’s leadership during the GOP’s significant wins in last month’s elections, which included flipping the Senate and maintaining a narrow House majority. Trump lauded Whatley’s efforts, describing them as "OUTSTANDING and HISTORIC," and emphasized his importance in advancing the party’s goals of election integrity and voter outreach.
"I have asked Michael to return as Chairman of the RNC to strengthen our Party, champion the America First agenda, and ensure free and fair elections," Trump announced.
Whatley first stepped into the role earlier this year when Trump secured the GOP nomination, replacing Ronna McDaniel. A long-time Trump ally and former North Carolina GOP Chair, Whatley is credited for implementing an effective election integrity operation and mobilizing voter turnout in battleground states. Trump also appointed Lara Trump as RNC co-chair, praising her and Whatley for transforming the committee into a "lean, focused, and powerful machine" for the America First movement.
Trump, who has a dominant hold on the GOP, urged widespread support for Whatley, calling him a "smart, tough lawyer" whose strategies delivered pivotal wins for the party.
Responding on social media, Whatley expressed gratitude for Trump’s trust and outlined his priorities for the RNC: bolstering voter engagement, securing elections, and raising funds to support Republican candidates.
He also highlighted upcoming challenges, including supporting Trump’s cabinet confirmations, preparing for the 2026 midterms, and continuing the fight for election integrity nationwide.
While Trump’s strong performance in the 2024 election boosted GOP candidates in key races, the RNC faces the task of maintaining his voter base’s enthusiasm in future elections, as Trump, now term-limited, will not appear on the ballot again.
