Harris woos undecided voters as Trump riles critics over Ukraine

With Election Day on November 5 approaching, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris holds a narrow lead over her Republican opponent nationally and in key swing states, although most polls are within the margin of error. Both candidates are utilizing prominent surrogates to secure support in the final stretch, including Elon Musk's recent campaign appearances for Trump in Pennsylvania.

At a rally in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Harris energized the crowd, stating, "We are nearing the home stretch, and this is going to be a tight race until the very end." She further characterized Trump as "an unserious man" and underscored the serious implications of his potential return to the White House.

Harris's outreach includes connecting with young voters and blue-collar workers, having also campaigned in Green Bay, one of the state's largest cities.

Trump, meanwhile, participated in an interview with a friendly podcast, where discussions centered on immigration, the economy, and his grievances with the media. He made headlines by blaming Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the ongoing conflict with Russia, calling him a "great salesman" and questioning why the U.S. has provided substantial financial support.

Amid these comments, Musk’s heightened involvement in Trump’s campaign includes five consecutive nights of events in Pennsylvania, where he declared the election would "decide the fate of America and Western civilization."

Trump capped off his campaign day at the Al Smith fundraiser dinner, traditionally a platform for lighthearted jabs at opponents. He took the opportunity to mock Harris, suggesting she struggles to form coherent sentences.

Although Harris did not attend the dinner, she sent a video featuring comedian Molly Shannon, who humorously reprised her character from Saturday Night Live.

Despite Ukraine being a U.S. ally and Russia a key adversary, Trump had previously belittled Zelensky during a meeting in September, emphasizing his ties with Putin.

During a Univision town hall, Trump faced pointed questions from undecided Hispanic voters, a crucial demographic for his campaign. He avoided mentioning his previously highlighted plans for mass deportations, instead claiming he supported legal immigration. When asked who would fill the labor gap if undocumented workers were deported, Trump struggled to provide a clear response and redirected focus to foreign "terrorists" and "murderers."

Addressing the January 6 insurrection, Trump distanced himself from responsibility, describing the day as "a day of love."

With around 36 million Latinos expected to vote, their backing is particularly vital in battleground states like Arizona and Nevada. A recent Times/Siena College poll indicated that 56% of Hispanic voters favor Harris, while 37% support Trump.

Despite Harris's recent momentum, her poll numbers appear to have plateaued, prompting both candidates to intensify their media efforts as they seek to persuade undecided voters.
