Harris claims she was 'honest with the American people' about Biden's mental acuity: 'Capable in every way'
Vice President Kamala Harris was pressed about whether she was forthcoming to the American people about President Biden's mental decline in an interview with NBC News' Hallie Jackson.

During Tuesday's interview, Harris was questioned by Jackson about her defense of Biden during the media's scrutiny of his age. Harris had consistently supported Biden as they campaigned for reelection as the Democratic ticket, up until his poor performance in the CNN presidential debate led to his withdrawal from the race.
Jackson asked, "Were you fully honest with the American people about what you observed when you stood by President Biden repeatedly during that time?"
Harris replied confidently, "Absolutely. Joe Biden is highly accomplished, experienced, and fully capable in every way that one would expect from a president."
Jackson pressed further, "You never witnessed anything behind the scenes like what happened during the debate?"
"It was a bad debate. Everyone has bad debates," Harris responded.
"But isn't that why you're running for president and he's not?" Jackson asked.
Harris answered, "Well, you'd have to ask him if that's the sole reason."
Jackson then asked for her personal thoughts. Harris responded, "I'm running for President of the United States. Joe Biden is not. My presidency will focus on a new generation of leadership, driven by the needs and ambitions of the American people."
Jackson clarified, "This is a question of judgment. Can the American people trust you to be candid, even when it's uncomfortable?"
Harris reiterated, "I have worked closely with Joe Biden for hours upon hours over these past four years, from the Situation Room to the Oval Office. I speak with sincerity and firsthand experience. I have no hesitation in affirming my trust in his abilities."
Previously, Harris had faced similar questioning from Fox News' Bret Baier regarding Biden's mental fitness. When asked if she had concerns after meeting with him regularly, Harris shifted focus, saying, "The American people's concern should be with Donald Trump. His former national security advisors, including his ex-vice president, have all warned that he's unfit and dangerous. This is why he had to choose a new running mate. Those are the facts."
